Important Notes: 6U SOFTBALL RULES
1. Rosters may consist of up to 15 players with all players being placed in the batting order. If a player is injured and taken out of the game, she may not reenter the game but will not be penalized as an out for her turn to bat. If a player is injured in a play and is safe but must come out of the game, the player that made the last out will run for her.
2. The defense will consist of 10 players, to include 4 outfielders, as in the 10U division. A total of 6 infielders are allowed. Thre players. One first & third base & pitcher must remain at/behind the 35' arch until the ball is but into play. The others infielders will maintain the integrity of the infield The outfields can not break until the ball is in play. After the ball is put into play, players may move wherever is necessary.
3. The game will be 5 innings with a 10 run rule after 4 complete innings.
4. Ten batter rule will be in effect. When the tenth batter comes to the plate in an inning then there are automatically two outs, regardless of any previous number of outs. The tenth batter must be announced to the umpire and opposing teams coaches. If the tenth batter is not announced to the umpire and opposing coach before the first pitch is thrown to tenth batten then every run that scores after batter puts the ball into play will be nullified.
5. Each inning the coach must substitute at least one player until all players have played offense & defense. This will not affect the batting order as all players are in the batting order. Each player must play defense at least one full half inning.
6. Coaches pitch to their own players from at least ten feet away from batter.
7. Each batter will receive 5 pitches and no strikes or balls will be called. After 5 pitches, batter is out unless the batter fouls the 5th pitch. If the 5th pitch is fouled the batter receives one more pitch(only)
8. No bunting or stealing is allowed.
9. If a batted ball hits a runner before a defensive player has a chance to make a play, the runner is out. If a thrown ball hits a runner, play continues. Circle players have to have an opportunity to make a play.
10. If a batted ball hits the coach pitching, the ball will be declared dead, the batter goes to 1st and all runners will advance if force to their . The coach who is pitching must leave the playing field in a timely manner without interfering with the defensive players attempting to make a play. Intentional contact with a live ball will be considered interference.
11. Bringing the ball to the pitchers mound, to home plate, or calling time does not constitute as a time out. Time will be called by the umpire when the defense stops the lead runner or the runner abandons the effort to advance.
12. Two defensive coaches are allowed to stand in the grass outfield at least 10' behind the offensive base coaches.
13. Eleven inch softball will be used.
